What makes an effective introduction to a Wikipedia article?

What makes an effective introduction to a Wikipedia blog is one knowing what you are talking about. You never want to start talking about a topic and not know anything about it. Secondly, you want to make sure that you can keep the reader engaged to the article. Say things that may keep them interested in the article. Make the reader see that you know what you are talking about and stay on topic.
