How to deal with a reader in Doc 1

How do I handle a reader n Doc 1? Well I would first make sure that they know exactly what they're talking about so that if they give me ideas or give me suggestions on an essay. I would like them to understand what I am talking about before giving suggestions. I would want the criticism but i would also like them to know what they're talking about before saying anything.
